Further parking restrictions are expected to be introduced across Glasgow this year according to fresh council reports.
A document being presented to members of the scrutiny committee next week shows that consultations on restricted parking zones (RPZ) were completed in December with the implementation of the scheme due to go live this February.
The local authority believes that introducing parking zones can benefit all road users by reducing congestion, improving traffic flow and managing limited road space to ensure fairer access for residents, businesses, and visitors.
These schemes also support safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists, increase turnover in short-stay parking, discourage long-term commuter parking, and promote more sustainable travel choices.
Work is currently ongoing in Kirklee and Dennistoun where a technical feasibility assessment is being carried out to see if the project can be carried out while design work continues on the other schemes.
The council is in the process of developing and concluding plans for Kelvinside & Kelvindale, Dennistoun, Broomhill & Thornwood, Battlefield, Shawlands, Strathbungo, Govanhill, Pollokshields, Langside, New Gorbals and Barras South.
While the council continues the roll-out of on-street parking projects in line with the new parking plan, it continues to implement event day parking zones around Celtic Park and Ibrox Stadium by April 2026.
Further restrictions are expected to be put in place at Sighthill and Broomhill by April 2026 as well.
A meeting has already been held with stakeholders and feedback from the public has been analysed.
