Glasgow councillors to consider plans for 24/7 prescription vending machine on Cathcart RoadiStock

People may be able to collect their prescriptions from a Glasgow chemist 24/7 if a machine dispensing medicine gets the go-ahead.

Planning permission is being sought to install the automated prescription collection machine with frontage alterations at 558 Cathcart Road in Glasgow.

Gilbride Pharmacy Group want to add the Medpoint machine to the front of the premises.

Glasgow City Council is considering the application for the Crosshill Pharmacy.

Medpoint said the collection point “provides a safe, quick and secure way for patients to collect their repeat prescription or medicine orders, 24 hours a day, seven days a week”.

Its website said the machine gives patients convenience and frees “up pharmacists’ time.”

A decision is to be made by November 17.
