A Scots dad is in intensive care in Turkey after suffering a “massive heart attack” while on holiday.
Peter McMahon flew out to Antalya with his fiancée, Laura, on November 14, but suffered a heart attack days later on November 19.
The family of the 52-year-old from Glasgow, who had no insurance in place, is facing costs of thousands per night, including being on dialysis.
His daughter, Teigan, who has set up a Go Fund Me fundraiser, flew out to Turkey after learning of her father’s heart attack.
The 20-year-old said in a GoFundMe post: “I can’t stress enough how important every penny counts.
“This bill is just increasing day by day and unfortunately far beyond anything me or my family can manage alone.
“I am not the type of person to ask anyone for a penny but I will quite literally beg to save my dad’s life.
“I will do absolutely anything to give my dad the best possible chance. No bill should ever stand between him and the treatment that could save his life.
“That’s why I am asking and truly begging. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!
“This man has shown me strength, determination, and the importance of never giving up my entire life. Now it’s my turn to give that back.
“I will do absolutely anything and everything to make sure my dad gets the best chance possible to open his eyes and to know that everything is going to be okay.”
More than £10,000 has been raised so far.
Fiancee Laura, who has set up a separate GoFundMe, said: “The bill is increasing day by day, and whilst the doctors are doing everything they can, I’ve no idea when he’ll even open his eyes.
“All funds raised will go to Peter. To sustaining his life.
“To paying all medical costs and anything and everything else possible to get him as well as possible and get him home.”
Both fundraisers are available to view here and here.
