Two men have been hospitalised with “serious head injuries” following an attack outside a restaurant in Glasgow.

The pair, aged 21 and 51, were rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary in the aftermath of the assault on Maryhill Road on Sunday evening.

A 52-year-old woman was also treated by medics for a head injury, but was later released.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently unclear, but police have now launched an appeal for information.

Officers shut down part of the street between Glencloy Street and Maryhill Road shortly after 9:15pm.

Detective Constable Iain Cooper said: “Three people were seriously injured and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.

“The area would have been busy at the time with restaurants and takeaways open so I urge anyone with information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.”

DC Cooper added: “If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3763 of Sunday May 1, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
