Hunt for man with 'English accent' over city centre assault

Officers believe the man could help with their investigation into the incident in Glasgow's Jamaica Street in January this year.

CCTV images of a man sought by investigators over an assault in Glasgow city centre earlier this year have been released by police.

Officers are searching for the man – who is believed to have an English accent – in connection with the “serious” incident in the Jamaica Street area on January 15.

He is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, with a medium to heavy build and was wearing a black t-shirt, black trousers, black boots and carrying a black North Face rucksack at the time.

Police Scotland is encouraging anyone with information on the man’s identity to contact them as soon as possible.

Detective constable Victoria Steele said: “We encourage this man or anyone who may recognise him or has information about this incident to get in touch”.

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting reference number 0066 of January 15.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
