Homes and businesses in Glasgow have been left without water due to a burst water mains.
Scottish Water confirmed those in the G41, G42, G43 and G44 postcodes faced an interruption to their water supply on Saturday.
The areas affected include Shawlands and Strathbungo and photos and videos on social media show streets in the south side of Glasgow flooded.
Glasgow City Council confirmed that Eglinton Street is closed in both directions between Turriff Street and Gourock Street due to a burst water mains.
Police Scotland confirmed a number of other streets are affected, including Cumberland Street, Turiff Street at Pollokshaws Road, and Pollokshaws Road at Maxwell Drive.
Engineers are currently on the scene investigating the issue at the strategic water main.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Teams on site are investigating but we know customers in the G41, G42, G43 and G44 areas have been impacted.
“We are working as quickly as we can to bring the majority of residents back into supply as soon as possible and we will be in touch directly with Priority Service Customers.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this burst and thank affected customers for their patience and understanding while these emergency repairs are underway.”
“If any affected customers experience discoloured water when supplies are restored, they should run the cold water tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.
“Any customers impacted by flooding should contact our customer services helpline for support on 0800 0778 778.”
A police spokesperson said: “Pollokshaws Road is closed from Albert Drive to Cumberland Street following a report of a burst water main that happened around 4.30pm on Saturday, 1 February.
“A number of other streets are affected including Cumberland Street which is closed at the junction with Eglington Street, Turiff Street at Pollokshaws Road, Eglington Street at Devon Street and Pollokshaws Road at Maxwell Drive.
“Buses are being diverted away from Pollokshaws Road to Victoria Road and Cathcart Road. Other local diversions are in place.
“Road users and the public are advised to avoid the area.”
