Sugo Pasta in Glasgow city centre has introduced a charge for cheese toppings on certain pasta dishes.
The popular restaurant added a notice to its menu stating that customers asking for Grana Padano Cheese will be charged an extra 75p.
A new notice on the restaurant’s menu says that dishes marked with * will be serviced with complimentary Grana Padano Cheese.
However, if customers request the cheese on dishes without the sign, it will come with the additional charge.
The notice says: “Please inform your server if you do not wish to have Padano on your pasta. Any requests for Padano will be charged at 75p per serving.”
It comes just over a year after the restaurant and both Paesano locations were bought over by The DRG, the owners of Di Maggio’s, Cafe Andaluz and Amarone.
Restauranteur Paul Stevenson founded the Paesano pizza restaurant on Glasgow’s Miller Street in 2015, followed by a sister outlet in Great Western Road two years later.
The Sugo pasta brand then opened on Mitchell Street in 2019.
The DRG has been contacted for comment.
