A Good Samaritan who stepped in after a man began harassing women on a train was punched repeatedly in the face.

The incident occurred on the 11.08pm service from Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk Grahamston on Saturday, April 18.

A man approached a group of young women on the train and began to harass them.

Another man stepped in and asked the suspect to leave the women alone.

In response, the suspect repeatedly punched the Good Samaritan in the face.

The suspect then got off the train at Camelon, while the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

British Transport Police are urging any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

BTP Detective Constable Liam Deasley said: “We are urging any of the other passengers on the train who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and help our investigation.

“We are particularly keen to hear from the women involved in the original incident to get in touch.

“To do so, please text us on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 531 of April 19.”
