Hearts have been promoted to the Premiership as title winners after results in the Championship on Saturday gave them an uncatchable lead in the table.
The Tynecastle side had beaten Alloa 6-0 on Friday night to stretch the gap at the top but two teams could still mathematically catch Robbie Neilson’s side.
However, both Dundee and Raith Rovers dropped points on Saturday afternoon, ensuring Hearts the Championship trophy and a return to the top flight.
Dundee’s 1-1 draw at Home to Morton and Raith Rovers’ 2-2 draw with Arbroath means Hearts are 13 points clear with three matches left to play.
Hearts manager Neilson has found himself under pressure recently with recent results, including a Scottish Cup exit to Brora Rangers, contributing to supporter unrest.
Neilson had insisted that the priority this season had been securing promotion and with that goal achieved, he will now start planning for season 2021/22.
SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “As Hearts are confirmed winners of the Scottish Championship, I would like to warmly congratulate the club’s players, management team and directors on their achievement.
“It’s a fantastic accomplishment and they are undoubtedly deserving champions.
“While Hearts have now sealed promotion, there remains plenty to play for in the division with play-off spots still very much up for grabs and, of course, relegation still to be decided.
“Only 11 points separate second and ninth position in the table so we can look forward to an exciting conclusion to the season.”
