An investigation has been launched after a house was deliberately set on fire in Clydebank while people were inside.

Emergency services were called to the property on Braes Avenue after the blaze was started between 12am and 12.15am on Tuesday.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and no injuries were reported.

Police are now appealing for anyone who has seen anything suspicious to come forward.

Detective Constable Leona Meek said: “Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of this fire, but this could have ended much worse and spread throughout the house, where the residents were within.

“I would ask that anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious come forward and speak to police.

“Additionally, anyone local with private CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to review this to see if it has captured anything of significance that could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0052 of May 19, 2026.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
