HSBC building vandalised for second time in two weeks as woman arrested

A 25-year-old has been arrested after the branch on Buchanan Street was targeted

A woman has been arrested after red paint was thrown on an HSBC branch in Glasgow for the second time in two weeks.

Emergency services were called to the building on the corner of Buchanan Street and Argyle Street at around 3.20am on Friday morning after red paint was thrown and windows were smashed.

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries continue.

The branch was also vandalised on January 22, with red paint spelling out: “Blood money. Shut Elbit down.”

Elbit Systems is an Israeli defence contractor and technology company.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.20am on Friday, January 30, 2026, police received a report of vandalism at a commercial property in Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

“A 25-year-old woman has been arrested, and enquiries are ongoing.”
