A huge new Lush store in Glasgow will offer an “immersive retail and spa experience” throughout, the firm has revealed.
Best known for its colourful bath bombs and jelly bars, Lush says it will create a spa experience throughout the city centre shop and house new concepts for the brand.
The first-ever Scottish anchor shop will house a spa, space for Lush Parties, a new community space, skin and hair care consultations, and a Shampoo Bar.
New signage on 98 Buchanan Street, which is still under development, says the store will open in late 2023 and is encouraging locals to apply for positions.
The beauty giant agreed on a 15-year-lease on the historic building, which formerly housed Borders and All Saints, in June 2022 for £900,000 per year.
The building extends over basement, ground and three upper floors, totalling circa 20,000 sqft and one of very few island sites on Scotland’s busiest high street.
Savills announced the agreement on behalf of Old Park Lane Management last year, calling it “the retail destination shopping experience (Lush’s) loyal Glasgow customers deserve”.
Ellen Peters, head of UK&I Property at Lush, said: “We are thrilled to have acquired the most prominent shop on Buchanan Street as our first anchor store in Scotland, and we extend our thanks to everyone involved in the process.”
Stuart Moncur, head of national retail at Savills, said: “With this being one of the most iconic retailing opportunities within Glasgow city centre, we witnessed a great deal of occupier interest in the property.
“Since the start of this year we have seeing strong occupational demand for stores on Buchanan Street and this letting to Lush really does highlight this. we are excited to see the investment Lush will make to the building and create a truly global flagship store.”
