A hunt has been launched for a hooded suspect after a man was robbed and threatened in Paisley.

A 36-year-old man was robbed while in a common close in the George Street area at around 11.10pm on Sunday.

Police said he was approached and threatened by another man who stole his mobile phone.

The suspect made off from the area towards the Canal Street and Main Road area.

The force described him as a white man of slim build, either in his twenties or thirties.

He had brown hair and was wearing a dark green hoodie, jogging bottoms that were black and white at the thigh, trainers, and spoke with a local accent.

Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

Detective constable Rob Young said: “Enquiries are continuing into this theft, and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything around this time to come forward.

“If you have any CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist, or if you saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area, please contact police immediately.”
