A man has been taken to hospital after a “violent attack” as police hunt two masked suspects in connection with a housebreaking.

Officers say the incident happened around 3.10am on Friday at a property on Elsie Way in East Kilbride.

Two males forced entry to the property and assaulted two occupants.

Emergency services attended and a 52-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspects are described as white males, wearing balaclavas. One was dressed in black with a hood up.

The other was wearing a grey/blue top with the hood up, and grey trousers.

Detective Constable Claire Young from Lanarkshire CID said: “This was a violent attack which left two men with injuries.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch.

“We’d also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam to check if they have captured anything significant.”
