A manhunt has been launched for a robber who covered his shoes with “black plastic bags”.
The man targeted the South Lanarkshire shop at around 8.35pm on Saturday.
After threatening members of staff, he made off with a three-figure sum of money, cigarettes and a bottle of alcohol.
The shop workers were uninjured, but left shaken by the incident.
The robbery took place in Stonefield Road, Blantyre.
Police said the suspect, who was covering his face with a scarf, was wearing a grey hooded top, light-grey tracksuit bottoms, and had dark shoes – “possibly covered up with black plastic bags”.
He ran from the scene in the direction of Calder Street.
Detective sergeant Craig Melrose said: “We are carrying out enquiries in the area and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“Whether you saw the incident take place, may have seen a man matching this description nearby, or if you drove through the area and may have dashcam footage, any piece of information could prove vital.”
If you have any information, call 101.
