Police are hunting for two suspects after a man was “violently attacked and robbed” while walking his dog in Largs.
Officers say around 5.15pm on Monday, a man was walking his dog on Nelson Street in the direction of Moorburn Road when he was approached by two men.
They assaulted him and robbed him of his mobile phone before making off towards Moorburn Road.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment, and his phone was later recovered.
The two men are described as both being white and in their late teens or early 20s.
The first was around 5ft 8in in height and wearing dark clothing.
The second was around 5ft 10in tall and wearing a dark coloured jacket and black trousers.
Detective Constable Fraser Barr said: “This was a violent attack that left the man injured and distressed.
“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen two men around 5.15pm on Monday, either walking or running along Moorburn Road or in the direction of Middleton Drive or Gateside Street.”
