Hunt for thief after woman left badly shaken by attempted robbery

A 26-year-old woman had her bag stolen by a man in his early 20s in the east end of Glasgow.

A woman has been left badly shaken following an attempted robbery in the east end of Glasgow.

The incident occurred around 8.30pm on Friday in Armadale Street, near to Golfhill Drive, when a 26-year-old woman had her bag stolen by a man in his early 20s.

Members of the public came to her aid and managed to retrieve the stolen bag and items. However, the suspect ran off in the direction of Duke Street. 

​The woman did not require medical treatment but has been left badly shaken.

The suspect is white, in his early 20s, with a slim build. He is around 5ft. 6 inches tall, with short dark hair and wearing a blue-coloured baggy tracksuit. He spoke with a local accent.

​Detective sergeant Laura Roberts said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.

“In particular, I would ask the members of the public who helped the woman to call us.  Also, if anyone has recording equipment, such as doorbell or dash cams, please check the footage as it could hold images relevant to our ongoing investigation.”
