Hunt launched for two attackers after man taken to hospital with face injuries

A hunt has been launched for two people who attacked a man and left him with serious facial injuries in South Lanarkshire.

A 22-year-old was walking at Westmuir Place, Rutherglen, at around 11pm on Wednesday, September 3, when he was approached by two men.

The pair attacked the man, who attended Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious facial injuries.

The suspects are described as white, with one around 5ft 11 inches in height, wearing a white t-shirt, while the other is around 5ft 8 inches tall, wearing dark clothing.

Officers have been checking any relevant CCTV footage from in and around the area for additional information on the suspects.

Detective constable Ross Meldrum said: “This attack has left the victim with serious injuries, and it is vital we trace the individuals responsible.

We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the two men described around Penman Avenue or Westmuir Place on Wednesday evening to get in touch.

“In particular we would like to hear from anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could be of significance to the investigation.”
