A hunt has been launched for two people who “violently” attacked a man and left him with serious injuries in East Kilbride.

Emergency services were called to the footpath at The Murray Road, near its junction with Westwood Hill, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday after a 42-year-old was assaulted by two men while out walking.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Police are now searching for two men in connection. The first is described as a white male, 5ft 10 in height, of slim build and wearing a black tammy hat and a blue/grey jumper.

The second suspect is described as a white male, 5ft 8 in height, of slim build and wearing a blue/grey hat and a light blue top.

Detective Constable Ross Burgess said: “This was a violent attack which left the victim with serious injuries and it is vital we trace the individuals responsible.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen two men around The Murray Road or Westwood Hill area on Wednesday evening to please come forward.

“In particular, we would like to hear from anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could be of significance to this investigation.”
