'Increasing concern' for missing man who boarded ferry

‘Increasing concern’ for missing man from Arran who boarded ferry to Troon Police Scotland

Police are growing “increasingly concerned” for a missing man who boarded a ferry before he was last seen.

William McKinstry, 40, was seen boarding a ferry from Arran to Troon on Tuesday, April 23 before being last seen on Prestwick Road in Ayr at around 8.10am a day later.

He is described as 5ft 9” with short black hair and was wearing a dark blue top that had ‘LBR Roofing’ written in white writing.

Police said enquiries suggest the 40-year-old could still be in the Ayr area.

Sergeant Martin Lawrie said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for William’s wellbeing and are appealing to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch.

“Our enquiries so far suggest he could be in the Ayr area however he could also have travelled elsewhere following his last known sighting.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4020 of Tuesday, April 23, 2024.”
