A group of Inverclyde binmen have been recognised with an award from the local authority after they befriended an autistic schoolboy.
Nine-year-old Jaxx Robertson became a TikTok sensation after he began handing out weekly treats to his local binmen in Greenock.
He prepares hot rolls, snacks and other treats for refuse workers every Wednesday. Jaxx then helps Brian and David empty his bins before sending them off with a high five.
Mum Lucy says ‘Bin lorry Wednesday’ has helped Jaxx, who has autism and ADHD, come out of his shell and build confidence.
Jaxx and his unique bond with the Greenock binmen has gained millions of views on TikTok and other social media channels.
Earlier this month, the schoolboy was recognised for his kind acts with a special kindness award, presented to the youngster by Provost Drew McKenzie from Inverclyde Council.
Now binmen Brian Copeland and David Millar have been recognised for their efforts in befriending Jaxx at the Inverclyde Council Pride of Inverclyde staff awards.
Jaxx presented the Chief Executive Award to his pals on behalf of the waste services team.
