Police are appealing for information after a schoolboy was found injured on an electric bike in East Renfrewshire.

The 15-year-old boy was discovered on Aurs Drive, Barrhead, at around 10.55pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and the boy was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition has been described as serious.

An investigation has been launched into how the boy came to be injured.

Aurs Drive has been closed between the junctions of Arthurlie Street and Kelvin Drive, and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is being asked to get in touch with police.

Detective inspector Ross Jamieson said: “Officers remain at the scene while we work to establish exactly what has happened.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 4085 of January 1, 2025.”
