Police are investigating after red paint was thrown at an HSBC branch in Glasgow.
Emergency services taped off the corner of Buchanan Street and Argyle Street on Thursday morning after red paint was thrown over the building and windows were smashed.
A message appeared to read: “Blood money. Shut Elbit down.”
Elbit Systems is an Israeli defence contractor and technology company.
Police said enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40am on Thursday, January 22, 2026, we received a report of damage to a premises on Buchanan Street, Glasgow.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
A HSBC UK Spokesperson said: “Criminal acts against our branches threaten the safety of our colleagues, customers, and our ability to serve the community, including some of the most vulnerable people who rely on our network.
“Safety is our priority, and we are actively assisting law enforcement to ensure accountability for these attacks and restore normal service as quickly as possible.”
