Investigation launched following two suspicious fires in two days at Paisley propertiesSFRS

A probe has been launched after suspicious fires occurred at two properties over two days.

The first incident occurred around 3.20pm on Friday within a common close on Ferguslie Walk in Paisley.

The second fire was located the following day at around 7.20pm within a common close in the town’s Millarston Drive.

In both cases, the flames were extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No injuries were reported following the incidents.

Investigators believe the fires are linked.

Detective Constable Jack McElwee said: “We will continue to check any relevant CCTV footage for any additional information.

“In the meantime, I would appeal to anyone who was in these areas around the time of the incidents to consider if they noticed anything suspicious or unusual.

“I would also ask people with dash cams and doorbell recording equipment to view their footage as it could hold images which may be significant in our inquiries.”

Those with information are urged to contact police via 101, quoting incident number 2037 for the Ferguslie Walk incident and incident number 2807 for the Millarston Drive fire.

Witnesses wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
