Police in South Lanarkshire are appealing for information after three vehicles were set ablaze in quick succession.

The first incident happened around 12.15am on Monday when a silver Ford Transit was set on fire outside an address on Vere Terrace, Kirkmuirhill.

Shortly afterward, at around 12.30am, a grey Vauxhall Mokka and black Mercedes GLC 200 were set alight outside a property on Dunlop Grove in Uddingston.

Nobody was injured in the fires, which were put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Constable Darren Healy said: “Deliberately starting fires is an extremely reckless and dangerous act, and it is fortunate that no one was injured as a result of either of these fires.

“We are appealing to anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in these areas, to contact us. We would also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam that could assist our enquiries to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0078 of 23 December for Vere Terrace, or 0066 of 23 December for Dunlop Grove. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
