An investigation has been launched after a kitten was found tied up in three plastic bags.

The Scottish SPCA believe whoever dumped the cat did not intend for him to be found and are appealing for information to trace the person responsible.

A member of the public discovered the black and white male kitten on Forest Dyke Road in Shotts, North Lanarkshire, at around 9pm on Wednesday, February 12.

The kitten had been tied up in a plastic bag within a further two plastic bags.

He was handed into the care of Glasgow vets the following morning.

Aside from an old injury to his front right leg, he was found to be in good health.

Scottish SPCA inspector Lara Vickery said: “The black and white kitten was tied in a plastic bag inside two other tied bags.

“Thank goodness the passer-by spotted him at the side of the road.

“He appears to be around 12 weeks old and was found to have an old injury to his front right leg.

“Apart from this, he seems to be in good health.

“It seems that the person that dumped the kitten did not intend for him to be found. Thankfully he was.

“We would like to find the person or persons responsible for dumping the young cat in this way.”

If you have any information, call the Scottish SPCA’s confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
