A Scottish Labour candidate in the Holyrood election has been replaced after being charged with fraud.
Mohammed Ameen was running in the Glasgow Southside constituency.
The 43-year-old appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday, March 26.
He entered no plea and was granted bail.
A party spokesman said: “Scottish Labour holds its candidates to the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
“Upon becoming aware of serious matters relating to Mr Ameen, the Party took immediate action.
“He has been suspended from membership and is no longer a candidate.”
It is understood the party had already agreed to replace Ameen on the ballot paper for the May 7 election due to personal reasons, but took the decision to suspend his membership of the party after the issues came to light.
