Residents in North Lanarkshire have been urged to shut their doors and windows as fire crews battle a derelict building blaze.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Hartwood Road in Shotts during the early hours of Friday morning.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent four engines and a specialist vehicle to the scene.
Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area due to the heavy smoke.
Those living nearby have been told to keep their windows and doors shut.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson said: “Crews are currently in attendance at a fire affecting a derelict building on Hartwood Road, Shotts.
“There are four fire appliances and a specialist resource at the scene.
“Due to heavy smoke, people are asked to avoid the area.
“Local residents are asked to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution.”
