A Scottish castle in North Ayrshire with links to Robert the Bruce has hit the market for over £1m.

Law Castle is a fully restored medieval tower house sitting atop Law Hill in the village of West Kilbride with views across the Firth of Clyde.

Commissioned in 1467 as a wedding gift for Princess Mary Stuart, daughter of King James II of Scotland, who, for historical context, was a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce.

Boasting six bedrooms and four bathrooms over five floors, the castle was built to mark her short-lived marriage to Thomas Boyd, Earl of Arran.

After falling into disrepair in the 19th century, its fortunes changed, and a private restoration project began and was completed in 2005.

Today, Law Castle spans six floors over 3,000 square feet and is looking for a new owner with offers over £1m.

At the top, the fifth floor reveals a vast attic space.

“Law Castle is not just a home, but a living piece of Scottish history-restored with care, alive with character and offers a rare chance to own one of Scotland’s most iconic homes,” the Savill’s listing explains.
