A lorry driver has been charged seven months after a cyclist died following a collision in East Dunbartonshire.

Una Brandreth, from the Stafford area of England, died at the scene of the collision involving a HGV on Manse Road at the junction with Drymen Road in Bearsden on the morning of March 19.

A silent vigil was held by local residents following the 56-year-old’s death and an online petition was launched calling for improved road safety measures to be put in place.

As part of the investigation into the incident, officers carried out a physical and digital reconstruction of the crash.

The 61-year-old lorry driver has since been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

He is due to appear in court at a later date.
