The M8 has been closed in both directions after a man was found injured on Thursday.
The eastbound and westbound carriageways are shut east of Glasgow between Shotts Interchange, Junction 5, and Newhouse Junction, Junction 6.
Emergency services are on the scene, and an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
Drivers have been urged to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The M8 is closed in both directions between J5 and J6 following a report of a man found injured.
“Emergency services are in attendance.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“Motorists are advised to please avoid the area.”
