A main road in South Lanarkshire will be closed on Saturday for Scottish Water to carry out an emergency investigation.

The closure will take place from 8am on the carriageway of the B7078 Carlisle Road between Middleton Avenue and Shaw’s Road in Larkhall.

It comes after Scottish Water was alerted to an issue in the area.

Traffic is currently being controlled with temporary lights, but a full road closure will be required on Saturday morning.

Drivers have been urged to allow extra time for any journeys through the area and follow diversions.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Unfortunately the road closure is needed to keep road users and our teams safe.

“It does mean diversions, delays and disruption for road users and residents but we will do all that we can to carry out the work as quickly as possible.

“We can only thank all those affected for their patience and understanding.”

Scottish Water is working in conjunction with South Lanarkshire Council to carry out their investigations.
