Police in Glasgow have made 50 arrests in three months in a major crackdown on drug dealing in the city centre.

As part of Operation Carex, officers arrested 50 people and reported 117 to the Procurator Fiscal, or issued Fixed Penalty Notices, in connection with drug offences.

The crackdown, which also included searches of 21 addresses linked to city centre drug dealing, took place between November 12, 2025 and February 6, 2026.

Drugs including cocaine, cannabis and heroin, with an estimated street value of over £110,000 were recovered, along with more than £39,000 in cash.

As part of the operation, between Friday, November 21 and Monday, December 22, 2025, officers also focused activity in and around Union Street, targeting drug dealing while also addressing anti-social behaviour, disorder and wider criminality in the area.

During this period, officers detected 93 crimes and made 35 arrests, including 23 arrests in connection with drug offences.

Quantities of cocaine, cannabis and suspected etizolam were also seized over the course of the month.

Detective Inspector Tam Carey said: “This proportionate and targeted action aims to disrupt those involved in drug dealing within Glasgow city centre and address the wider criminal behaviour impacting on the area.

“We work closely with partners, including Glasgow City Council, local businesses and support services, to help ensure this remains a safe place for those who visit, live and work here.

“This sustained approach, alongside a range of wider interventions, is having a positive impact in helping to reduce harm within our communities and makes clear that such criminal activity will not be tolerated.

“Action like this is only possible through the continued support of the public. Anyone with information or concerns about drug activity is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“I can assure you that you will be listened to and the information you provide could prove vital in helping us identify those involved.”
