Major road closure as emergency services deal with rush hour crash

A major road in Dumfries and Galloway has been closed after a crash.

Emergency services were called to the A74 (M) near Moffat around 6.45am on Friday morning following reports of a collision.

The road has been closed northbound between junctions 15 and 16.

Drivers have been asked to consider alternative routes at this time.

A post from Traffic Scotland read: “06:45am. A74(M) jct 15-16.

“The #A74(M) is currently CLOSED nothbound between jcts 15-16 due to a road traffic collision.

“Emergency services are on scene.

“Road users should use alternative routes currently and give extra travel time. Updates to follow.”
