A major search is underway for an elderly man who has gone missing from Campbeltown, with locals urged to check their gardens and sheds.
George Harvey was last seen around 10.30pm on Wednesday in the Main Street area of the town.
The 84-year-old has not been seen since despite a significant search by local officers, a police helicopter and Coastguard teams.
Police Scotland’s Dog Unit is due to join the search for George, who is described as well-known in the local community.
The pensioner is described as 5ft 6ins tall, of very slim build, with very short hair and is clean shaven. When last seen, he was wearing a pale blue jacket and blue jeans.
Inspector Kirsty Moore said: “It’s been over 12 hours now since George has been missing and the fact that despite our search we have not been able to trace him and no one has seen him is very concerning.
“Today officers searching for him will be supported by specialist search teams including the Dog Unit.
“We have also been liaising with local bus and taxi companies, and been into local pubs and businesses just to make them aware and to keep a look out for him.
“We’d encourage residents to check their gardens, sheds or out-buildings just in case George may have taken shelter there.
“Everyone just wants to make sure that George is back home safe, so please, if you have seen him or know where he may be, contact us.”
