Major search underway after 'man seen entering river'

Police, coastguard teams and the Air Support Unit continue efforts to trace a man reported to have entered the water on Saturday.

A multi-agency search is underway following reports of a man entering a river in West Dunbartonshire.

Emergency services were called to the River Leven in Renton at around 7.30pm on Saturday September 13, with police, the Air Support Unit, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard were deployed to the area.

Despite extensive efforts, the man has not yet been traced.

Searches resumed on Sunday September 14 with assistance from the Air Support Unit.

A statement from Police Scotland read: “Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the man before he entered the water, or who has any information which could assist, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2781 of 13 September, 2025.”
