A man has died in hospital after being found injured on a footpath in Johnstone.

Emergency services raced to the scene near Thornside Road and the 35-year-old was taken to Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley, where he died a short time later.

Police say the death is being treated as unexplained.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.55pm on Saturday, 16 May, we received a report of a man injured on a footpath near Thornside Road in Johnstone.

“Emergency services attended and the 35-year-old man was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital where he died a short time later.

“His family are aware.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
