A man has died after being found injured on the street in Dundonald in the early hours.
Emergency services were called to reports of an unresponsive man on Main Street around 4.05am on Sunday.
A 57-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he later died.
The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with members of the public urged to avoid the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers remain in the area and anyone with any information or concerns can approach them.
“A road closure is in place on Main Street. Please avoid the area if possible.”
