A man riding an electric bike has died after a crash with a transit van on the A815 in Argyll.

The 81-year-old cyclist and a grey Ford Transit collided at the access road to Hazelbank, near Stachur, at around 11.40am on Sunday, August 17.

Emergency services attended and the e-bike rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man driving the van was not injured.

The road was closed to for crash investigations to take place and reopened at around 7pm.

Police Scotland said enquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and officers are appealing for information.

Sergeant Archie McGuire said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the crash and witnessed what took place, or has any dashcam footage which could assist, to please get in touch with officers.”
