Man, 91, seriously injured after being hit by truck near business park

A 91-year-old man has been seriously injured after being hit by a truck near a business park in Rutherglen.

Emergency crews were called to Ballochmill Road after a pedestrian was hit at around 11.25am on Tuesday.

A 91-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The road was closed for investigation and reopened at around 5pm.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder from the Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything around the time to contact us.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage which captured anything of relevance is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist.”
