A 96-year-old man has been left seriously injured after he was struck by a car in Ardrossan.
Emergency services were called around 3.20pm on Thursday, December 11 to reports of a pedestrian having been struck by a MG HS Excite car on South Beach Road.
The pedestrian, a 96-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, a 74-year-old man, was issued with a fixed penalty notice for a road traffic offence.
Police say enquiries are ongoing.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I am asking anyone who was in that area at the time who witnessed something to get in touch.
“Similarly, any drivers in the area with dash-cam footage that may have captured the incident should contact us.”
