A man has appeared in court charged with murder after the death of a woman following a disturbance in Glasgow.
James McCrindle allegedly assaulted and killed Sandie Butler, 40, in Townhead on October 29.
Court papers stated the 53-year-old “struggled with” Ms Butler and “struck her to the body with a knife or a similar implement”.
Ms Butler was found seriously injured in the St Mungo Avenue area and died a short time later.
Tributes were paid to Ms Butler after her death was announced.
Charmain Hunter said: “Not Sandie, she was such a lovely person. I met her the day she came to Ness and kept in touch since.
“Oh doll, my heart breaks for u pet. RIP Sandie, ’til we meet on the other side”.
“I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ll never forget the help you gave my sister, my thoughts are with your family and friends at this sad time,” said Lorraine Grant.
McCrindle made no plea to the murder charge at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
He was represented by his lawyer Marco Guarino.
The 53-year-old was remanded in custody and committed for further examination by Sheriff Allan McKau.
McCrindle, of the city’s Townhead, will appear at court again within the next eight days.
