A man has been charged with wilful fire-raising after a car was set alight in West Dunbartonshire.

The 34-year-old was arrested over the weekend in connection with the incident that took place in Clydebank on Saturday, June 15.

A white Audi A3 was set on fire during the night in the Queen Mary Crescent area of the  town.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 2am.

No one was injured in the blaze which was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

A statement from Police Scotland said that the man will appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court at a later date and enquiries remain ongoing.
