A man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance near to a protest in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Buchanan Street at Sauchiehall Street after reports of an incident at around 1.15pm on Sunday.

The alleged disturbance occurred close to the Royal Concert Hall, where a demonstration against executions in Iran was taking place.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old man, who is understood not to be part of the protest.

A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.15pm on Sunday, August 30, 2026, we were called to a report of a disturbance on Buchanan Street at Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

“A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
