Man arrested in Glasgow on suspicion of drug offences in Northern Ireland

A man has been arrested in Glasgow on suspicion of drug offences in Northern Ireland.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Organised Crime Branch, with assistance from Police Scotland, arrested a man in the city on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old was arrested on suspicion of fraudulently importing a class B controlled drug, conspiracy to supply a class B controlled drug and being concerned in the supply of a class B controlled drug.

Officers from the PSNI’s Cross Border Arrest and Transit Team assisted in bringing the man to Northern Ireland, where he is now in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Pyper said: “We, along with our partners, will continue to work tirelessly to tackle organised crime, and this includes the supply of illegal drugs.

“Drugs bring nothing but devastation. Criminals will inevitably line their pockets at the expense of the most vulnerable members of our communities, with families and loved ones left to pick up the pieces.”

DI Pyper continued: “Today’s arrest is an excellent reflection of collective efforts, and we’re grateful for the support of our colleagues in Police Scotland.
