A 44-year-old man has been assaulted by another man claiming to be armed with a weapon in Alexandria.
Police said the assault took place on O’Hare in the West Dunbartonshire town at around 10.30am on Friday.
Officers said the 44-year-old man was entering a close when he was approached by another man from behind and threatened.
The suspect then assaulted him before running off towards Stirling Road.
A 54-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident but has been released pending further enquiries.
Detective constable Campbell, of Clydebank CID, is appealing for witnesses.
He said: “Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and checking CCTV, however, we’d ask people to get in touch if you saw the attack or have any information, including doorbell footage, that may assist our investigation.”
Information can be passed to officers via 101, quoting incident number 1006 of Friday, March 1 when calling.
