A man brutally attacked his next-door neighbour while he held a toddler amid a row over loud music.
David Coulter, 34, pounced on the victim at his flat in Glasgow’s Tollcross on January 10, 2023.
Fast food restaurant manager Coulter was enraged by an ongoing dispute over the man playing loud music for months.
Coulter entered the victim’s home and pushed him to the ground as he held a 15-month-old girl in his arms.
The ex-armed forces member, now of Airdrie, Lanarkshire, went on to punch his victim, leaving him with a bloody nose and mouth.
Coulter pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to charges of an assault to injury as well as behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
The court heard that the victim was caring for the 15-month-old at his home when he played music at the front of his flat.
The victim was noted to try and protect others in the property during the incident.
He suffered swelling to his face, body and cuts to his mouth.
Coulter exited the property while a neighbour entered to see the victim bleeding from his nose and mouth.
Coulter later handed himself into police and stated: “I lost the rag with my neighbour last night.”
Hannah Wade, defending, told Friday’s sentencing that his client had moved town since the incident.
The lawyer added: “There was a background to this which has been playing music at reckless levels for months and months.
“He made a complaint to the council and landlords, but nothing was done to fix the issue.
“This is not an excuse but an explanation – he accepts his responsibility.
“He realises he serious consequences to [the victim] in the long-term.”
It was also revealed that Coulter had attempted to withdraw his guilty plea on an earlier occasion.
Sheriff Bernard Ablett ordered Coulter to do 171 hours of unpaid work and made a compensation order to the victim of £600.
