A man caught with £1m of cannabis shortly before he got on a ferry is facing jail.
Chace Cappellie, 33, was stopped in his black Ford Ranger at the Stena Line sea port in Cairnryan on February 7 last year.
Prosecutor David Fisken told the High Court in Glasgow: “A cursory search of the vehicle was completed and a suitcase was removed from the rear compartment.
“It was opened and revealed what was believed to be controlled drugs.”
Police were alerted. A further five large suitcases were then seized from the vehicle.
Mr Fisken: “They were found to contain 92 plastic, vacuum sealed bags and a strong odour of cannabis coming from within.
“An open box of latex gloves were also seized as well as a Stena Line receipt.
“There was cash in the form of notes and coins totalling £1380.”
It emerged Cappellie had been due to board a ferry to Belfast that morning before returning straight back later that afternoon.
He made no comment when questioned by police.
The total amount of cannabis seized was 108.5kg.
Mr Fisken said the maximum potential value for the haul was said to be just over £1m.
Cappellie, of Halesowen in the West Midlands, pleaded guilty to charge of being concerned in the supply of the class B drug.
He is due to be sentenced on June 5 in Kilmarnock.
Cappellie had his bail continued due to an ongoing medical matter.
He must sign on at his local police station twice a week until the next hearing.
