A man has been arrested and charged after a pensioner died and a child was rushed to hospital from a crash in Cumbernauld last month.
Margaret Allan, 77, died in hospital three weeks after the collision which occurred on June 15.
A 10-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car Ms Allen was driving was also rushed to the University Hospital Monklands as a result of the crash and has since been discharged.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 3.05pm at the Condorrat Ring Road in the town.
The crash involved a Ford Mondeo Titanium and a red Peugeot 108.
Ms Allan, who was driving the Peugeot, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and later died as a result of her injuries on July 6.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
The 29-year-old driver of the Ford Mondeo was not injured and has subsequently been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing and any witnesses have been urged to come forward.
Road policing sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died following this incident.
“We know from enquiries so far that the road was busy at the time and a lot of people will have witnessed the crash.
“I would urge anyone with information or who saw the vehicles prior to the crash to get in touch with us.”
