Man charged after 'hit-and-run murder bid'

A man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.

A man has been charged after another was “deliberately hit by car” in an alleged murder bid in Dumfries.

Emergency services were called after a man was struck by a car on Criffel Road, near to Lincluden Road at around 11.20pm on Saturday.

The man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.

The car and its occupants had left the scene, heading towards College Road and onto Newbridge Drive.

Officers confirmed on Wednesday that a 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police Scotland said enquiries into the incident are continuing.
